Andy’s passion is increasing society’s resilience to natural disasters. He has 26 years of experience as an earthquake and structural engineer and founded the Catastrophe Risk & Insurance practice at the global engineering consultancy Arup. Here, he worked with corporations and governments around the world to better manage their catastrophe risk, including risk reduction, emergency response, business continuity, and insurance. He has supported clients in numerous post-disasters situations from Japan to Chile to Haiti. He is coauthor of the book Peace of Mind in Earthquake Country and represents Safehub on the governing board of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM). Andy has a master’s degree in structural and earthquake engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
